Performance analysis of a tractor - power harrow system under different working conditions

Tillage is one of the most important operations in preparation land for growing crops. Among secondary tillage implements, power harrows, which have a series PTO-driven rotors rotate about their vertical axis, are widely adopted soil-working operations. Typically, this kind implement highly energy consuming, due to heavy mechanical loads required pull harrow and PTO (Power Take-Off) torque needed drive rotors. This paper reports results extensive in-field experimentation relationship between operating conditions tractor - system (i.e. draught) were investigated two different test site fields. The parameters consisted of: nominal speed (3, 6, 9 12 km h?1), working depth (6, 15 cm) rotor (285 411 rpm) at 1000 rpm. data was statistically analysed by means linear mixed effect model assess differences performances measured under conditions. presented show can be favourable regarding fuel consumption as information may very useful farmers reduce costs. Moreover, concerning draught also beneficial manufacturers improve design these kinds implements.
